From Finance to Fun Stuff
It seems like a leap to go from selling financial products to being a party goods and gift shop owner. Pretty radical departure, right? But Tina Marchand’s experiences in her previous career were critical to her success with Ellie & Piper Party Boutique. Strategic marketing plans, branding, and long term vision are all important avenues for an entrepreneur. Tina is full time in her own business now, based in the Concord/Manchester, NH area. And who wouldn’t want to be self employed in order to be close to this absolutely darling little girl?
Because we are an online store, we are open everywhere 24 hours a day 7 days a week. You don’t even have to get dressed to shop with us! When you work for yourself, it seems like you’re always working! I am a working mom – juggling my time between being a mommy to my 18 month old daughter and running the show at Ellie and Piper.
Party Decor with Style
Have you ever looked at party decor and said, ‘Yuck’? We have, plenty of times, and so has Tina. She’s always enjoyed entertaining, whether it’s having another couple over for dinner or hosting a big Super Bowl party. Tina comes from a really big family with lots of relatives – aunts, uncles, and cousins. And she loves that feeling of togetherness that a party atmosphere creates and the love that radiates from the gatherings.
The problem with hosting parties is finding decor that isn’t over the top cheesy or tableware that can’t be found in any regular party supply store. That’s why Tina formed Ellie and Piper Party Boutique! She’s able to seek out the trendy and modern, high quality party necessities that designers take pride in creating, and that manufacturers take pride in producing. And when Tina finds something she loves, she wants to share it with everyone! Lucky us, right?
Creating the Brand
Have a browse through Tina’s Instagram shop for a peek at her fabulous collection of party decor and gifts. Your event will be spectacular with them, guaranteed!
Tina knows what she likes, and what her clients like as well. So when Autumn Lane was asked to create her brand, it came together quickly.
“It was pretty easy deciding what the brand is all about – trendy, modern, unique, and fun. Even creating the colors for the logo and the website layout came naturally. The challenging part is deciding which items to buy for the store’s collections that will portray that to the customer in a unified way. I can get carried away during the buying process!”
Decorate the Tables. But First, Buy the Tables.
As a business owner, Tina’s biggest struggle is time management. She used to think that this was one of her strongest assets. But when you are running a business, you are responsible for the accounting, logistics, buying, marketing, sales, administrative duties, inventory, order fulfillment — everything! You’re being pulled in so many different directions, and that to-do list just keeps getting longer!
The solution to overcoming this is to delegate and prioritize. Delegate tasks to other people who are experts in their fields, like social media content and management. And designate hours or days to tasks that take higher priority than others.
Set the Table. Hang the Streamers.
2019 for Tina and Ellie & Piper will be a year of continued marketing and building brand recognition. Plans are to deliver great customer service and continually offer unique products. By staying on track every day, Tina will build a happy and loyal customer base.
Success is defined differently for everyone, but Tina marks her greatest success as working for herself. Every dollar earned is that much more meaningful and valuable than ever before. Being the boss babe means Tina has the freedom to make her own business choices and choose who to work with. She can determine her own hours and dictate her own schedule around her family’s needs.
Ready to be the boss babe in your own venture? Let’s connect and make plans together!
“Take the leap of faith and do it! If there is any great idea that is floating in your head, take it and run with it. The sky is the limit if you’re willing to work hard to make your dreams a reality.”
