Rockin’ the Easy-Bake
When Shantell Campbell was a little girl in Atlanta, GA, her favorite toy was her Easy-Bake Oven. There’s something magical about making sweet goop, putting it into a pan, baking until it’s not goopy even in the middle, and voila! You have a cake! Shantell discovered her love for baking and she’s now preparing to launch Girls and Swirls Bakery in the Metro Atlanta area.
The Magic Ingredient
When Shantell was mulling over a name for her brand, she wanted it to be relatable for women and young girls. It should uplift others through her creativity. Delectable desserts are now far more than simply chocolate, vanilla or strawberry. Just take a look on the Girls and Swirls page on Instagram for Shantell’s beautiful and special cakes, cupcakes and cookies, liberally sprinkled with edible bling.
The branding process wasn’t too difficult for me; I knew I wanted to empower women while still expressing my passion within the brand. I truly believe that this new branding will attract more people to my desserts. My logo includes a woman of color with elements in relation to baking, and it was important to me that a natural hairstyle was embraced. It’s easy to lose sight of staying true to your natural self, which led to me wanting to restore that feeling of not being afraid to embrace who you truly are.
When we discover things that we’re passionate about, there’s no limitation to what we can accomplish together. I’m all about girl power!
The key to it is to work extremely hard while creating your own path. Nothing happens overnight, and throughout the failures I’ve faced, there will be equal amounts of success coming my way in the future.
