Have you ever had a hard time finding a gift for someone you love? Happy Day Boxes to the rescue! Now based in Suwanee, Georgia, the company motto, #happyhasarrived, perfectly describes the service.
Sam Andersen was frustrated in looking for gifts for his father, only to come up with beef jerky and beer as his best options. We can relate, and we bet you can too. The solution? Gift boxes for guys (and gals too)! Now shipping everywhere in the USA except to PO boxes, Sam and Heidi deliver the best gift baskets to you, in a box.
We make giving easy
For years, Sam has wanted to turn his dream into reality. As a pilot for SkyWest Airlines, he had time to think and plan about how it would be done. Heidi admits that she was skeptical and cautious for quite a while. Starting and running your own business is a big step, especially a venture that requires inventory.
Things were still in the planning and dreaming stages when Sam’s mother, Teresa, was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. She was a vibrant woman, always looking for the best in everything, whose favorite exclamation was, ‘Oh, happy day!’ No matter what the situation – truly happy, truly sad, or somewhere in between.
About a year after being diagnosed, she passed away in September of 2017. But her desire to find the “happy” in every day and to share that “happy” with everyone lives on with her family. When Sam and Heidi reached agreement to start their business, it was an easy choice to call it “Happy Day Boxes” in memory of Teresa!
Now let’s make branding easy
Once Sam and Heidi had a name for their new business, it was time for a professional logo. And branding. And an ecommerce website.
We didn’t have much in mind when we got started with our brand. I’d have to say, we didn’t give Autumn Lane much to go on! But luckily, they knew the right questions to ask to help get our minds thinking about what we wanted our brand to look like. It couldn’t be too feminine because this would be for males’ gift boxes as well as women. But at the same time, we wanted a nice, sophisticated look. We have had great feedback! When we launched our website, we had a lot of people tell us how beautiful and professional everything looked.
One of our main obstacles was determining the size of the box. We wanted to ensure we had enough space for our products but also facilitate inexpensive shipping. This is an ongoing process, and we are continually making improvements.
It’s simple, but it might not be easy
We are going to continue to grow our business through social media. Right now, we have a Facebook page and also an Instagram page where we hosted a fun giveaway in January of a Planner Box. Eventually we’ll add a candle subscription box. We want to please our customers so we’re going to evolve with what works with our vision and what people want!
It takes some time to get started, so be sure to stick it out. Take online classes for whatever you may need to learn, such as social media!
