Saving Grace Occasions: Planning Perfect Parties in St Louis
Grace Freeman is a St Louis girl, born and raised, so she knows the thriving, vibrant area of Greater St Louis that sprawls across the Mississippi in Missouri and Illinois. On lunch hours during her marketing career, Grace dreamed of planning beautiful weddings and started to plan for her own business. One part of the exit strategy was becoming a nanny to 2 precious littles that she still visits. The family fully supported her dreams and goals, making for an easy transition.
Saving Grace Occasions opened in 2016, based in Webster Groves, MO. Call on Grace and her team for full service wedding planning and event production. You have everything under control and just want to enjoy the Big Day? Great! You want a grand celebration and need help along the way? Also great!
Opening my office in Webster Groves recently was a huge stepping stone for me. It’s amazing to walk in in the mornings and turn the lights and the oil diffuser on to create an ambiance for my meetings with my couples. And then having them in and being able to welcome them, serve them coffee or wine and just have a good time planning their wedding in my office is so fun!
Planning Beautiful Weddings: Tiers of the Frank Sinatra Cake
As a dinner-party-planning gal who comes from a huge family, Grace naturally likes to celebrate. She loves having something delicious on the stove, enjoying a glass of red and listening to Frank Sinatra. So her services packages are arranged in tiers, like a wedding cake, and named after some of Ole Blue Eyes’ most popular tunes.
Tier 1, ‘Sealed With a Kiss’: Event Production package. Also perfect for ‘Month-Of’ Coordinating of a wedding.
Tier 2, ‘Fly Me to The Moon’: Tier 1 plus 4 in-person meetings prior to wedding day, vendor referrals and style totally customized for the bride & groom.
Tier 3, ‘The Best Is Yet to Come’: The Everything package, from engagement to planning every detail, including a budget spreadsheet and monthly meetings. Tell us when you heard of a wedding planner going to those lengths!
Every package from Saving Grace Occasions includes additional assistance from Grace and her team on the big day, so everything goes smoothly and you’ll have the time of your life.
Something Wonderful in Webster Groves
The Autumn Lane questionnaire was super helpful in making tough decisions a lot easier in the branding process. I’ve always focused on blue (think “something blue”) for my brand, but the colors were a bit too poppy and I wanted something more chic. Autumn Lane had me create a little design board which was really fun (thanks Pinterest!) and we went from there. Everything kind of fell into place because even though I didn’t have an exact picture of what I was looking for, I knew what I didn’t want and the type of branding I was looking for. I think now that I’ll be able to perfectly communicate my style without even ever meeting someone. And that will be the quick handshake that leads them to my website to get to know me better. Hopefully if they like my style, we’ll find that we’re a great fit to work together!
Starting a brand from scratch ain’t easy, and it takes a lot of time. I’m so lucky to have my friends, family and fiance rooting for me and getting involved as much as they can. I think overall, just the general learning process is tough. You find things out along the way that could either make or break your business. And you have two choices, full well knowing people are counting on you: toughen up and make it happen, or quit!
Name It and It's Yours
Bitten by the planning bug? Grace says, do your research! Be aware of what you’re getting into. The wedding industry is hard work, and difficult to break into without some connections. Some tips:
Shadow people in your area of choice. Offer to assist or intern for them so you can learn what really happens.
Learn from professionals in other parts of the industry – photographers, florists or caterers, for instance. Being around like-minded people will give you a better respect for what they do. You’ll understand their side of the project and how it fits with the rest to make everything work.
Remember that you’re signing up to be a ‘weekend warrior’, and it will be your job to ensure that all the glitz and glamour comes together perfectly. The phrase, ‘never let them see you sweat’, comes to mind here!
Expect to turn down lots of friends’ wedding invites, birthday parties and more. It’s really nice of them to think of you, but truthfully – you’ll be in a time crunch.
All of that said, there is absolutely nothing else like planning the most wonderful wedding ever! When the bride and groom let you know how delighted they are, and how they’ll remember their special day forever with joy, then… ah, then… so will you.
