We’re excited to introduce you to Nikki Miller Photography’s new brand!
Tell us a bit about how you got started with your business / blog / venture that we branded.
When my first son was born I bought a “nice” camera and took a small “mommy and her camera” class. What started as a hobby became a lifeline after my second son was born and I was diagnosed with postpartum depression. I used photography to help gain perspective, literally and figuratively. Spending time with other families helped me appreciate mine even more, and now I am proud to show my clients their love through my lens!
What products or services do you offer?
I offer family photography services, from engagement to maternity to newborn and beyond. I help style and coordinate your session to help you look your best, but still like YOU (not a Pinterest version of you!). I will also be offering print products in 2018.
What’s the best advice you have for someone that is interested in doing something similar to you?
Be patient and take things one step at a time. Allow yourself some grace. Everyone starts out somewhere, and it will take time for you to find your voice and where you fit in. That’s ok. It’s supposed to happen that way. Listen to your own heart and don’t let anyone else bring you down. Surround yourself with people who are supportive and honest, people who will offer you constructive criticism to help you grow, and who will cheer you on when you succeed. If you want to make things happen, you can’t give away your precious time to people who are anything less.
Tell our readers a bit about the branding process!
When I started the branding process, I wasn’t exactly sure what I was looking for. The questionnaire seemed almost overwhelming, but I took it one step at a time. I just started writing about what I wanted my business to be about-why did I photograph families, and why did I choose my style of photography? I wrote almost without thinking, and when I went back to edit I saw I had written “I want to show families their love through my lens.” Right there I knew that was my “tag line”. That was my why. I’m not sure I would have come to that without the push from Autumn Lane Paperie to really think about my answers!
My goal with branding was to come up with graphics that looked sophisticated-I wanted to look like I was worth the price tag that comes with my services!-but also friendly, playful, and not stuffy. Lily got that right away. The feedback I have already received has been overwhelmingly positive. Having a coordinated, polished brand has not only made my website and social media look more professional, it increases my confidence and makes me FEEL more professional.
What does the future hold for you?
I will be launching a blog soon to feature both my photography and my life adventures. I am also hoping to start offering services to other photographers, such as workshops, mentorships, or networking events. I’m very excited to see what the future brings!
