What exactly is Website Design?
What is website design? It’s a good question that we could talk for days about but we’ll try not to bore you by being too detailed! The short answer is: it depends on the needs of the individual.
Website design can be paying a graphic artist to create a layered file of website elements that you can then take to a web developer at your leisure to have them use it to build your website that was designed.
Website design can also be going to a website firm, giving them the relevant information for your project, and then having them create an online presence for you in the form of a website.
How either of these take form is dependent on where you go to get your work done – if you simply love the work of a particular graphic artist & you must have their design for your developer, this is something that’s very possible, although expensive.
Artists are expensive.
Developers tend to be expensive as well.
We know of artists who charge a minimum of $3,000 for website design. No website is included with that.
Developers tend to want to do things in strange ways that takes a lot of time & is impossible to update without them. Job security?
What’s right for your website?
We’ve put together a LOT of websites for folks just like you – family-run or sole-proprietor companies, lifestyle blogs, message boards, etc. & we’ve developed a system that includes both design & development for about half the cost of the artists we mentioned above. You can see a few of them here. We do what we do because we love it – we love working with real people and seeing their excitement as things begin to take shape. We also love being able to take care of our families doing what we love & helping others with their passion.
For us, website design is creating the design artwork & then developing the website to withstand the rigors of online onslaught for years to come & be easily cared for by the website owner. We care a lot about ensuring that our website clients are happy with their website & we’ll go over every detail with them to ensure that they’re satisfied prior to launch. It’s always satisfying to have our clients tell us that we’ve caused their anxiety levels to drop as they watch the website mature & near completion right in front of their eyes.
We don’t outsource our work at all because we want to be able to vouch for the quality of our own work & ensure that communication barriers are kept to a minimum – if you get it from us, it was made by us & we can support it after the fact.
We’d love to chat with you about your website design!
